Athletics: Stramilano; Sunday is the Half Marathon

(ANSA) – MILAN, MAY 13 – After two years of stop due to the health emergency, the Stramilano Half Marathon is back, the city half marathon among the fastest in the world: the appointment is for Sunday 15 May at 10 am in piazza Castello, starting point of the 21,097 km track along which Italian and international athletes will compete.

The race is open to all FIDAL members and affiliated sports promotion bodies and Runcard: the participants will run along the avenues of the ring road and cross the finish line in Piazza Castello.

Also this year the goal is to beat the record of the event, the 59’12 ” recorded in 2016 by the Kenyan James Mwanj Wangari and only surpassed worldwide in 2005.

The 49th edition of the Stramilano Half Marathon also sees some Italian athletes among the favorites, such as Giovanna Epis and Giulia Sommi.

There will be several refreshment points along the route. The Athletes’ Village will host the refreshment area managed by the Italian Red Cross of Milan, within which it will also be possible to find an area dedicated to relaxation thanks to the stations for anti-fatigue massages.

In the last edition, that of 2019, Priscah Jeptoo triumphed among women and or Vincent Kibor Raimoi among men. (HANDLE).
