(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 06 – Pietro Rossetti calls, and all of Rome respond, as we are heading towards sold out. The 23-year-old Capitoline welterweight (14-1-0) is ready to put on a show on Friday in the ring set up in the Romulea stadium, in via Farsalo, in the evening by BBT Production. The pupil of Italo Mattioli and Luigi Ascani at Team Boxing Roma XI has the Latin IBF title in his sights, and to win it he will have to defeat the Spanish Aaron Alhambra, already challenger to the national title, on ten rounds. Rossetti is known on the Italian scene for a unique fighting style: he knows how to combine great aggression with extreme power in his strokes, so much so that 7 out of 14 victories arrived before the limit (and 3 in the first round). Born and raised in San Giovanni, the boy enters the ring between the notes of Lando Fiorini’s ‘Roman Guitar’ and never spares himself between the sixteen strings: people love him for his fearlessness in the ring and for his kindness in everyday life.
The nickname ‘The Butcher’, (the Butcher) was given to him when he worked in a butcher’s shop and then it stayed with him.
“I am proud to fight in my neighborhood, and happy that so many people can’t wait to come and see me – says Rossetti – Mine is a real boxing, and for this I am sorry that some athletes in Italy do not want to face me. Ours it’s a tough sport, and many are afraid of getting hurt … “.
The other titled match of the evening is the challenge for the Italian superlight title between the reigning champion Charlemagne Metonyekpon (10-0-0) and Jacopo Fazzino (6-5-0). The first, born in Benin but from the Marches in all respects, won the belt in March against Arblin Kaba; for the Roman Fazzino it is instead the first tricolor chance.
Rich subclou. Among the matches that will precede the two titles, the return of Damiano Falcinelli stands out: the former Italian superwelter champion, finds the square after the defeat suffered a year ago in Germany, and does so against the Croatian Luka Leskovic. In the light heavyweight, Gianmarco Ciofani will meet an uncomfortable client like Serhy Demchenko, already two-time champion of the European Union. It will be a clash between the titans between the greatest Antonio Carlesimo and Igor Mihaljevic. (HANDLE).
