Tour: Durbridge is positive for Covid-19, forced to retire

(ANSA-AFP) – MORZINE (FRANCE), 12 JUL – The Australian Luke Durbridge tested positive for Covid-19 and therefore will have to retire from the 109 / o Tour de France cycling. This was announced a little while ago by ‘his of him’ team, the BikeExchange, before the start of the 10th stage, in Morzine.

Durbridge is the fourth rider to leave the French stage race because he was positive for Covid-19, after the Norwegian Vegard Stake Laengen (UAE Emirates), teammate of the yellow jersey Tadej Pogacar; the French Geoffrey Bouchard (Ag2R Citroën); Guillaume Martin (Cofidis). “Unfortunately Durbridge tested positive for Coronavirus this morning. Durbridge has mild symptoms and will not start stage 10,” announced BikeExchange, a team led by Australian Michael Matthews and Dutch Dylan Groenewegen.

After the first three positive cases, the whole group passed a UCI test on Sunday evening which then gave a negative result.
