Athletics: Europeans; 20 km walk women, Trapletti at 37 years old

(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 20 – Beautiful race, in the 20 km walk women of the European Championships in Monaco, of the blue Valentina Trapletti who, at the age of 37 last month and in the rain that characterized this race, placed herself in fifth place in the race won by the 38-year-old Greek Antigoni Ntrismpioti. Ntrismpioti had also won the 35km race in Monaco, becoming the oldest walker to climb the top step of the podium in a top event. All this after she, from 2004 to 2011, she had stopped playing sports, because she could not reconcile it with work.

“Too bad, I was hoping for something more – the Milanese Trapletti told RaiSport after the race -, but today I gave everything and at a certain point I felt that my legs did not go as I wanted. However, I am always there”. (HANDLE).
