The legend of world rhythmic gymnastics Albina Deryugina died in Kyiv. The famous coach died at the age of 92.
This was reported by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine on its page on the social network Facebook. Deriugina had the title of Hero of Ukraine and Honored Coach of Ukraine, was a member of the Executive Committee of the NOC of Ukraine.

Deryugina came to rhythmic gymnastics in the 70s and immediately made the Kyiv school in this sport one of the strongest in the USSR.
“Albina Deryugina came to rhythmic gymnastics at the dawn of its inception and is considered the founder of this sport in Ukraine. Today, her pupils are known all over the world, and the strong foundation she laid allows us to bring more and more new talents of Ukraine to the podium of respect, while maintaining a unique style of the Ukrainian school of rhythmic gymnastics,” the NOC reminded.
Under her leadership, Olga Shchegoleva, Olga Plokhova, Victoria Serykh, Lyudmila Yevtushenko, Irina Deriugina, Alexandra Timoshenko, Oksana Skaldina, Elina Khozlu, Tamara Erofeeva, Anna Bessonova, Natalia Godunko became Olympic champions and winners of the world and European championships.
Only on March 16, Albina Nikolaevna turned 91 years old.
