Allegations that Ukraine threatens Russia in any way are completely untrue, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said.

“On the Ukrainian side of the dividing line that was drawn as a result of the Russian invasion of the territory of Ukraine, there are OSCE monitors. They check what is happening there and what is not happening. And the idea that Ukraine is now somehow threatening Russia, defies any logic given the size of these countries.”he said in an interview with Dozhd.

Blinken noted that statements that Ukraine allegedly wants to return Donbass by force are absolutely illogical.

“And the idea that Ukraine will suddenly try to return the Donbass right now, although it could have done it at any moment over the past 8 years, but chose this very moment, when there are 150,000 Russian military around Ukraine, also contradicts any logic. And, to “Unfortunately, as we see now, everything is developing exactly as I said a few days ago at the UN Security Council. There is a fabrication of provocations, which is then used as a justification for Russian military intervention in the Donbass and, more broadly, in Ukraine”– he said.

Blinken noted that blackmailing Russia does not contribute to solving the problem.

“We are fully prepared to work on it. But to do all this with the barrel of a gun pointed at the temple of Ukraine, with 150,000 Russian troops stationed north, east and south of the border, it is very difficult to make progress in such an environment.”– he said.
