Clashes between Palestinian protesters and police resumed on the last Friday of Ramadan on the Temple Mount (Temple Mount for Jews) in Jerusalem. Dozens of demonstrators – the police said – began throwing stones and fireworks at the agents and towards the Wailing Wall below. And this prompted the police to enter the Esplanade in order to disperse the demonstrators. The Red Crescent has made it known that there are 12 injured. According to the media, the demonstrators – many masked – waved Hamas flags with the slogan ‘We will sacrifice our lives for Al-Aqsa’. Tens of thousands of Muslim faithful are waiting to enter the Esplanade for morning prayers. The police for days, in anticipation of today and on the basis of the incidents of the last Friday, had strengthened their presence in the Old City.
