France, minister ‘recommends’ the mask on the subway

(ANSA) – PARIS, June 27 – “I ask the French to put the mask back on the means of transport”: Brigitte Bourguignon, French Minister of Health, told RTL microphones.

Despite the clear epidemic recovery, the minister ruled out the re-establishment of an “obligation” to wear a mask, after France also abolished it on means of transport last May.

For Bourguignon, wearing a mask is “a civic gesture” in particular “on transport and in all crowded and highly promiscuous places”.

According to Santé Publique France, an average of 46,000 new cases are recorded every day, with an infection rate of 484 per 100,000 inhabitants. In the last week the latter figure has grown by 29%, with a positive swab in 4. But the number of swabs is enormously lower than in the past, because many do not take the test for lack of symptoms or resort to the “do it yourself” version.

Only 25% of people who could take the fourth dose have had the vaccine booster. These are the over 80s, particularly fragile people and over 60s who have not received calls or have not had Covid infection in the last 6 months. (HANDLE).
