Italy-Tunisia: agreement on sustainable agriculture and fishing

(ANSA) – TUNIS, 06 JUL – Support the development of sustainable agricultural and fishing production systems through financial support for private operators in the sector (Support Fund). This is the goal of a seven-year agreement between the Tunisian Institution de la Recherche et de l’Enseignement Supérieur Agricoles (Iresa) and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (Aics) in the framework of the Adapt program, financed by the European Union. , recently signed at the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries of Tunisia.

Present at the ceremony – reads a note from Aics – the Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Mahmoud-Elies Hamza, the director general of Iresa, Hichem Ben Salem, and the owner of the Aics branch of Tunis, Andrea Senatori. The technical and scientific knowledge of Iresa represent an added value for the program and thanks to the institutional network that Iresa is able to activate, the world of scientific research and that of the private sector will be able to strengthen their collaboration and lay the foundations for an ecological transition that starts from innovation and rational use of natural resources. “We strongly believe in the potential of green investments for the construction of a Tunisia of the future – declared the owner of the Aics office in Tunis Andrea Senatori – and we are happy to be able to promote sustainable economic growth that passes through the resilience of its actors in the face of global crises, including those brought about by climate change “.
