(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 18 – The west of France and central and southern England, including London, are now progressively hit by a blazing heat wave, which will bring temperatures of over 40 degrees, which for the UK constitute an absolute record.
In France 15 departments are on alert and the heat is expected to be more intense in the regions of Aquitaine, where 42 degrees or more are expected, and in Brittany. Across the Channel, the authorities have for days been issuing warnings to the population to stay home, warning that extreme heat can kill, and even the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, yesterday asked the population of the capital not to take public transport except in cases of need.
