Protests against Orban’s measures continue in Hungary

(ANSA) – BUDAPEST, JUL 18 – Protests against the government in the center of Budapest have been going on for six consecutive days. Hundreds of people take to the streets against government measures: the increase in taxes for small business owners, freelancers, and the abolition of subsidized bills.

Even today hundreds of demonstrators blocked the Margaret Bridge for hours. The police only managed to unblock traffic around noon, using tear gas.

Many then marched on Parliament Square, where they drafted a petition, addressed to Prime Minister Viktor Orban, demanding the cancellation of the measures.

The organization and the civil movements intend to continue the protest also in the next few days, but exclude the opposition parties, discredited with the hard defeat in the April elections.

Among the demonstrators there are also supporters of Fidesz, the party of Prime Minister Orban. (HANDLE).
