(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, AUGUST 24 – On the occasion of the celebration of Ukrainian independence, the Grand Place, the monumental central square of the Belgian capital, was colored with yellow and blue flags in Brussels. For the occasion, the Association of Ukrainians in Belgium and the civil society hub organized the deployment of a 30-meter Ukrainian flag.
The event, also punctuated by traditional Ukrainian choirs, was attended, among others, by the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the vice-president Margaritis Schinas, who accompanied the yellow and blue banner together with many Ukrainian citizens in traditional clothes. Von der Leyen herself was dressed in yellow and blue. (HANDLE).
