Passengers on a flight from South Korea experienced a moment of tension this Friday, the 26th. That’s because around 12:45 pm (00:45 am in Brasilia), a 33-year-old man opened the emergency door of the aircraft while it was in the air, according to the Asiana airline. Airlines, adding that the landing, despite having been carried out with the door open, happened safely, but some passengers had breathing difficulties after the unexpected opening of the door and some were taken to the hospital, but no one was seriously injured. Yonhap news agency said nine people were hospitalized and that “the passenger has been handed over to the police and is being questioned,” according to Asiana. Almost 200 passengers were on the Airbus A321-200 bound for Daegu International Airport, 240 km from Seoul. The case happened when the plane was 200 meters from the ground. A passenger who was sitting near the emergency exit “opened the door manually by touching the lever”, said a representative of the South Korean company. According to the Yonhap agency, when the suspect tried to pull the exit door lever, the flight attendants were unable to stop him because the plane was about to land. She also said authorities said the man, who was traveling alone, was not drunk at the time of the arrest but remained tight-lipped about why. Yonhap published a video of the incident, which shows the moment when the door is opened in mid-flight and the wind affects the passengers.
