THE funeral of Pope Franciswho died on Monday at the age of 88, will take place on Saturday (25) at 10h00 (5h00 Brasília) in VaticanPrior to his burial on the same day at the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica of Rome, he announced the Holy See. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Peter’s Square, located in front of the Basilica of the same name and where the first Latin American pontiff made his last public appearance on Sunday of Sunday Easter.
The body of the Pontiff will be taken from the Santa Marta Chapel to the São Pedro Basilica this Wednesday (23), at 4 am Brasília time (9am at local time). It will be put on display so that the public can pay their latest honors. The transfer will be accompanied by a procession that will pass through Santa Marta Square and the Roman Protomartic Square, leaving the Bell Arch towards St. Peter’s Square and entering the Basilica through the main door.

According to Vatican doctor, Andrea Arcangeli, the 88 -year -old pontiff died from a stroke and irreversible heart failure. The cause of death was confirmed in a certificate released on Monday (21).
