THE Google will launch a new internet search mode with artificial intelligence (Ia) Enhanced, announced its executive director, Sundar Pichai, on Tuesday (20). This is a new phase in the integration of the Generative AI into the famous search engine, after launch, a year ago, from the general view created by AI, a section that appears at the top of the results, ahead of the traditional web pages links.
The new technology, called AI mode, is a “total reinvention of search with a more advanced reasoning,” said Pichai during the company’s annual event for developers in Silicon Valley. “You can ask longer and more complex questions … and you can go further with the following questions,” he added.
The new feature, which is initially available only in United Statescan provide detailed information and charts to view data. It will also offer personalized answers based on the user profile, your history of activity on the Internet and your email exchange as long as you have accessed your search history and your inbox. The executive said that “decades of research” are fruit with the new technology.
Google search director Liz Reid has described the novelty as a powerful tool with advanced reasoning that allows you to seek “throughout the web, with a much greater depth than the traditional search.”
Since Google presented the AI -created view at its conference for last year’s developers, it has grown until it reaches more than 1.5 billion users in a large amount of countries, Pichai said. “This means that Google’s search is approaching the Generative AI to more people than any other product in the world,” he said.
However, analysts have expressed concern that a change in Google search, from “blue links” pages to AI -generated summaries, lead to less opportunities to profit from ads, the company’s business model.
This has also generated alarm between website editors, such as news organizations or Wikipedia, which face an important drop in traffic on the possible disappearance of Google search links, the main gateway to the Internet in the last two decades. In this sense, an Apple executive recently stated in a Federal Court that Google search traffic on Apple devices has decreased in April for the first time in over two decades.
