Bus accident leaves 10 university students in Colombia

At least ten people died and 11 were injured on Saturday (24), in an accident involving a bus in the department of Quindío, in western ColombiaAfter a collision caused several passengers to be launched out of the vehicle, Humboldt University said.

The vehicle crashed and hurled several people from a bridge in a fall of several meters. The victims are students and university professors who participated in an academic excursion.

“We inform you about the sensitive loss of many of our companions, students, teachers and administrative staff […] The institution decrees mourning ”for two days, said in a statement the educational center located in the city of Armenia. In total, 26 passengers traveled on the bus from the Department of Tolima (West) to Quindío.

We are trying to “establish the conditions of this unfortunate accident,” said police commander Luis Fernando Atuesta about the incident, in which the driver lost control of the bus.
