Chinese suppliers play a key role in providing Russia with components for the production of shock drones. Moscow took advantage of its friendly ties with Beijing to get around Western sanctions and get technologies and opportunities for creating weapons that attaches Ukraine.
China officially denies Russian military assistance, but actually supports a high level of technological export, including dual use. This is evidenced by the documents that Bloomberg, namely the official notes of the Russian company Aero-Hit and its correspondence with officials of the Russian Federation.
“Documents indicate that the company has business relations with the Ministry of Defense of Russia and the military, and its products filled with Chinese components were on the battlefield for use against Ukraine,” the agency writes.
Yes, Aero-Hit, based near the airport in Khabarovsk, has released large-scale production of drones with the support of the Russian authorities. In 2025, she planned to produce up to 10,000 drones per month.
Some of these drones, including Veles FPV, Russian invaders are actively used to attack Ukrainian positions in the Kherson region, as well as strikes for other purposes in Ukraine.
Sanctions against the Russian company were imposed in 2023, but the aerodynamic predator continues to work and expand the production of drones. And, as Bloomberg installed, China was the key to its scaling.
Documents show that since the beginning of 2023, engineers from aerodynamic assistance collaborated with Chinese experts with Autel Robotics to localize the production of Autel Evo Max 4T drones. It was created for civil use, but was effective in battle – in particular, from the resistance of the electronic warfare.
Contacts between aerodynamic and autobotomed robotics were temporarily suspended due to sanctions, but from the end of 2024. And since May 2025, the parties agreed on the complete localization of the production of the Chinese drone in Russia. The documents say that the price of one such unit will be 650 thousand rubles, and annual production is planned at the level of 30,000 units.
Bloomberg discovered that Russia uses confusing logistics chains and false companies to deliver Chinese technologies to its military. These schemes include enterprises that officially work in the field of agriculture, transportation of seafood or aviation.
In June 2025, Aero-Hit appealed to the Russian Ministry of Defense with a request to ensure funding for scaling and further integration of drones with Russian IT systems.
According to the agency, it is now impossible to find out if the Chinese government knows about this project. The PRC constantly claims that they do not provide fatal weapons to any of the parties to the Russian Federation against Ukraine and “export control of dual use of goods.” At the same time, investigators emphasize that some Chinese companies really abandoned contracts with the Russian Federation, but their place quickly took other suppliers.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China did not respond to the request of the agency, and Autel Robotics deprives cooperation with the Russians after 2022. But it is known that the UK has already imposed sanctions against Autel for the suspicion that they supply technologies that undermine the sovereignty of Ukraine.
According to OBOZ.UA, President Volodymyr Zelensky warned about the growth of impacts with drones from Russia and announced an increase in the production of Ukrainian drones and preparing sanctions against the aggressor. In particular, cooperation with investment partners in UAVs, as well as with Germany, for joint air defense.
