This was declared Prime Minister Yamaika Andrew Holness. Speaking at the top of the Caribbean community (Karik), a block of 20 member states and deputy members, Holness said that the Jamaica was enlisted by his “wide support” with her petition to the king, reports The Guardian.

“I am glad to report that the Jamaica received wide support for the petition of King Charles III, as the head of the state Jamaica, with a request to make an official decision on the secret council as to whether the Atlantic was enslaved in the Atlantic,” he said.

The idea appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers and the Yamaika Commission is to ask the secret council to decide and determine whether there were slavery and forced transportation of African slaves to Yamaika and other territories legal, and whether they were a crime and a crime against humanity and consequences.

Over the centuries of the transatlantic slave trade, more than 12.5 million Africans were stolen and forcibly exported to America, including Yamaika, where they were sold in slavery.

Holness said that the petition was a bold step towards justice. He added that it was “a turning point for Karik and the entire world movement for reparative justice.”

According to him, if the petition is satisfied, “the United Kingdom has a legal obligation to pay Jamaica and its people compensation for the harm caused.”

The Minister of Culture Yamaika Olivia Gra Ringch said that the petition “will have far -reaching consequences for efforts to obtain compensation.” She emphasized that the countries work together: “Different countries will decide what measures they should take. But the main thing is that they all support our position. For me, this is the main statement – we work together in this direction, ”the minister added.

The Prime Minister Saint -Vincent and Grenadin Ralph Gonzalvest, one of the founders of Karik’s repair, also stated that the battle could not be stopped.

“In the Caribbean region, we have a special main task, the main responsibility is to pay compensation for the genocide of the indigenous peoples and the enslavement of the Africans,” he said, adding that the region needed allies. He said that this issue will be included on the agenda of the African-caricular African summit, which will take place in Ethiopia in September.

Prime Minister Antigua and Barbud Gaston Brown emphasized that this is a matter of justice for those who were operated and did not pay for their work.

“We must be able to fight for justice, because our ancestors not only exploited without receiving a salary for this, but also reputed a profit in Europe and North America for economic development, depriving our countries of important social institutions, hospitals, schools and not developing infrastructure in our countries,” he said.
