The aircraft then began to lose altitude quickly. The switches have returned to the Run position and the engines must be gaining power, but “one of the riders transmitted ‘Mayday Mayday Mayday'” aviation warning message, according to the document.

Air traffic controllers asked the pilots what was going on, but then they saw the plane shock against the ground and triggered emergency services.
