Ethiopia: Tigray forces accuse Eritrea of new attacks

(ANSA) – ROME, JAN 10 – The spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Tigray, Getachew Reda, has accused Eritrea of new attacks on Twitter. The country borders the regional state, located north of Ethiopia and the scene of a civil war since November 2020.

Recently, Tigrinya rebels withdrew from neighboring regions, with the Ethiopian federal government army saying it would not enter Tigray. Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki told state media over the weekend that his soldiers would prevent any attack on his country and any threat to Ethiopia’s stability.

Eritrean troops fought alongside Ethiopian troops in the conflict between Addis Ababa and Tigrè that broke out over a year ago. Neither Eritrea nor the Ethiopian government have responded to this latest accusation by the Tigrinya rebels. (HANDLE).
