US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that Russia will receive a proper account for cyber attacks against Ukraineif her involvement is confirmed and such attacks continue.
It is reported by CBS News.
The Biden administration has been warning for months that cyberattacks could be part of a broader Russian escalation effort, the adviser said.
“It’s part of their script. They’ve done it in the past in other contexts.”, said the White House adviser.
Sullivan also spoke of sanctions.
“With regard to sanctions, we have made it very clear to the Russians (and we have done this in concert and in unison with our allies): if they invade Ukraine again, they will face serious economic consequences and pay a high price for it.”, he noted.
In addition, the White House adviser added that if the Russians resorted to military action, Washington would take measures that would damage their economy, damage their strategic position in Europe and strengthen NATO solidarity.
