Russia will receive written answers to its demands to the West, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a briefing after meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Geneva.

“We discussed Ukraine today. Our American colleagues tried to prioritize the problems on the Russian-Ukrainian border, they tried to determine the need for de-escalation – this has already become a spell. We completed the agreement that we will be presented with written answers to all our proposals next week “, – he said.

Lavrov also said that Russia is not going to attack Ukraine.

“There was a statement that Ukraine poses no threat to Russia. I want to remind you once again that Russia has never threatened the Ukrainian people anywhere and once… You say that we are going to attack Ukraine, although we have repeatedly explained that this is not so”– said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Lavrov also noted that Blinken confirmed Biden’s statement about Ukraine.

“We believe that the Ukrainian issue requires close attention, but the whole problem of the European security architecture should not be reduced to this issue. On Ukraine, Anthony Blinken confirmed what Biden said about their willingness to contribute to the implementation of the Minsk agreements”, – he said.

Blinken and Lavrov meeting

The meeting between the Russian Foreign Minister and the US Secretary of State lasted an hour and a half. There, the parties discussed security issues. In particular, Blinken said that in the event of an escalation of Russia, a tough response would be given.

He also said that he does not count on the solution of all issues at these negotiations, but he hopes that Russia will choose a peaceful way to resolve the conflict.

Lavrov noted that Russia also does not expect big breakthroughs, but is waiting for concrete answers to its proposals.

This meeting was already the fourth in a series of negotiations between Russia and the West this year. Earlier, representatives of Russia met with representatives of the United States, NATO and the OSCE.
