The Ukrainian renewable energy sector needs maximum assistance in resolving the problem of accumulated debts for the produced green electricity, the Energy Community Secretariat said in a statement.
On March 27, the Secretariat began to assist Ukraine in solving the current problems facing the renewable energy sector.
“In the near future, the process will focus on settling Guaranteed Buyer’s outstanding debt to renewable energy producers, revising the Harpok imbalance payment formula and reforming its corporate governance,” the Energy Community notes.
They also emphasize that Ukraine must take all measures to support the renaissance of renewable energy in the country.
“This process is becoming even more important now that Ukraine is starting to prepare for the transition to a green economy, in which renewable energy should take center stage,” the Energy Community concluded.
Recall, Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine aims to become a leader in the transformation of the energy industry to counter any threats, so the country will build modern green energy. Also, the state should become a green energy hub for the export of green electricity and hydrogen to the EU.
According to Guaranteed Buyer State Enterprise, the level of arrears to green energy enterprises for 2022 is about 50%.
