“I worked on Highlander for years, for Henry Cavill. It is difficult to be retroactive. What’s the difference between Wick and this? With Wick, you weren’t serving seven seasons of television, plus two spin-offs and five movies,” he said.
“If I were to do a Highlander remake now, you would expect there to be a lot of mythology in the first two hours, you couldn’t explore things without it. Today, Highlander as a television series would be extraordinary. You would have time to build it, to see all those flashbacks and its potential.
It’s trickier when you’re trying to do something with such a big mythology… This would be a series that really needs to be tackled. Here we had the opportunity to learn as we progressed through Wick,” he added.
“We’re fine-tuning the project right now… I think we know what we want. More importantly, we know what we want to do. It’s a question of creativity. We know what we are trying to do. It’s just about getting to the point where we’re like, “OK, that’s it. Let’s go.” But we’ve never been so close, so that’s good,” he said.
