The American singer and actor Bobby Sherman is dead. He died at the age of 81, as his wife Brigitte Poublon announced on Instagram on Tuesday. The TV broadcaster Fox News had the death of Poublon confirmed separately.
“Bobby left this world while holding my hand – just as he carried our life together with love, courage and unshakable grace,” she wrote. Sherman had made public a few months ago that her husband had cancer in the advanced stage. Son Tyler Sherman also confirmed the death of the newspaper “Washington Post”.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Sherman became a teen idol with songs such as “Little Woman” and “Julie, Do Ya Love Me”. His music brought him four top 10 hits in the US charts, his television appearances-among other things in the series “Here come the brides”-made him a well-known face. His picture adorned lunch boxes and youth magazines, and in 2005 he was included in the list of 25 largest teen idols by “TV Guide”.
After the end of his pop career, Sherman turned to emergency medicine, worked as a paramedic and trainer with the Los Angeles police – on a voluntary basis. “He exchanged sold -out concerts against the ambulance,” wrote his wife. “He showed us what true heroic deeds are – quiet, selfless and deeply human.” Bobby Sherman leaves two sons and six grandchildren.
