Curcio, daytime rationing of water is not excluded

(ANSA) – ROME, June 27 – In Italy, water could be rationed even during the day in some parts of the Peninsula and it could take “a couple of weeks” for the declaration of a state of emergency linked to drought. This was stated by the head of civil protection Fabrizio Curcio. “In some areas of the country it is certainly not excluded that water rationing leads to a temporary closure even during the day”, said Curcio. “We are 40-50% less rainwater than the average of recent years and up to 70% less snow”. And the Po has a flow “up to 80 percent less” again with reference to the averages, said the head of Civil Protection, who also raised the alarm for the situation of fires: this year, he reported , they are more than double last year and more than 6 times more than in 2020, “we are very worried” (ANSA).
