Beijing “condemns firmly and opposes” the latest use on the Chinese maritime, logistical and shipbuilding sectors, called “a typical non -commercial behavior with discriminatory shades”.
The Ministry of Commerce, in a note released in the night, has assured “that China will monitor the situation carefully and adopt all the resolute measures to safeguard its rights and interests” against the new taxes in force since October on ships built or owned by the People’s Republic that dock in the USA, according to the announcement on Friday of the representative for American trade, Jamieson Greer.
For over a year, Beijing has repeatedly “expressed his position” to the United States, asking for “respect for the facts” and the end “of his illegal actions”, as well as “stop blaming China for the development problems faced by the American industries”, added the ministry. In a recent hearing held by the USA, “most of the representatives of the industry in various countries expressed opposition to American measures, and there was also a significant internal opposition in the United States”.
However, Washington “remains stubborn and insists on currently relevant restrictive measures: China strongly expresses its dissatisfaction and firmly opposes this”. The measures adopted by the United States, by virtue of section 301 of the US Trade Act of 1974 which allows the launch of taxes and additional duties to impose from nations accused of violating loyal commercial practices, “fully unmask the nature of their unilateralism and their protectionist policies, which are typical non -market practices with evident discriminatory characteristics”.
They are practices that seriously affect the rights and legitimate interests of Chinese companies, significantly compromise the stability of production and global supply chains, violate the rules of the World Commerce Organization (WTO) “, as well as the multilateral trade system based on the rules and the international economic order”, has redeemed the Ministry of Commerce of Beijing.
Finally, China urges the United States “to respect the facts and the rules”, to stick to the principles of market economy and loyal competition “, to cease its practices of” unloading of the faults “and to rectify” its offenses in timely terms “.
