In the first week after the inauguration of US President Donald Trump, the American military was ordered to stop flights with artillery shells and other weapons heading for Ukraine. At the same time, the main employees of national security – in the White House, the Pentagon and the State Department – could not answer who ordered exactly to stop the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
According to Transska’s notes, the oral order came from the Minister of Defense Pete Hegset. It is reported by Reuters.
The weapon was limited after Trump completed the meeting in the Oval office on January 30 in relation to Ukraine, in which Highs and other senior national security officers took part. It was during this meeting that the idea arose to stop assistance in Ukraine, but the president did not give any specific instructions.
According to two sources, aware of private discussions in the White House, as well as in another, which has direct information about the situation, Trump did not even know about the order of Hegset, as well as other high -ranking national security officers present at the meeting.
At the request to comment on this information, the White House said that Highset had fulfilled Trump’s directive to suspend assistance to Ukraine, which, according to him, was the position of the administration at that time. At the same time, the Trump administration did not explain why, according to those who talked with journalists, senior national security officials in the usual decision -making process did not know about the order or why he was so quickly canceled.
“Negotiations on the cessation of the Russian war were a complex and changing situation. We will not describe in detail each conversation between the highest officials of the administration during the process. The bottom line is that today the war is much closer to completion than when President Trump joined the message, ”Chrisest said.
