Pistorius also emphasized the role of “coalitions of those who want”, which in recent months played a key role in the support of Ukraine. According to him, the allies are ready to accompany the restoration of Ukrainian troops not only financially, but also through training and technical assistance.
Separately, the head of the German Ministry of Defense noted that “constructive negotiations” are already held on how a truce may look, who should guarantee its observance and in what international framework this will happen.
Pistorius also commented on the actions of the Kremlin, including the refusal of Russian President Vladimir Putin to personally participate in peace negotiations:
“The world witnessed how Putin, who announced his readiness for negotiations, did not arrive in Istanbul, did not want to meet with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, and instead sent the third echelon of his representatives. This clearly shows that he was not interested in the dismissal of war. ”
