In Tiraspol (the capital of SO -tied Transnistria) celebrated the day of embroidery. The organizers were the local Ukrainian house and community of Ukrainian culture “Red Kalina”.
Honestly, this news has become somewhat unexpected. News about the last years were convinced that Transnistria became a hostile enclave, where the idea of a Ukrainian is eradicated. Nevertheless, even local newspapers write that children and teachers of several local schools, Ukrainian groups and representatives of the trade union of Ukrainians Transnistria are present at the holiday.
But if you think, there is nothing strange in this event, and it can not even be a runaway idea of our common story, will immediately give all the necessary answers. In this area, Ukrainians have traditionally been a majority of the population. Despite the fact that the authorities in the region were constantly changing. At different times, Transnistria was part of the great duchy of Lithuania, the Commonwealth, Cossack Hetmanat, the Russian Empire, the Golden Horde, the Crimean Hanate and the Ottoman Empire.
In 1918, the Ukrainian People’s Republic considered these lands traditionally Ukrainian. And in 1924, here, in Soviet Ukraine, the Moldovan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was created. And in 1991, the fate of Transnistria varied on a scale. The region had a real chance to become part of the independent Ukraine.
Of course, the Soviet Union made a huge contribution to the “blur” ethnic composition. But even in this case, Ukrainians always remained here the most influential ethnic group.
In fact, the current “pro -Russian” region is determined by only one factor: the presence of the operational group of Russian troops in the Trende -the installation of 14 guards of the Armed Forces of the USSR that was once capable of. It is his presence that continues to ensure that Moldov and Ukraine are enforced.
But, but …
Local Ukrainians do not lose touch with their homeland. And the fact that this year was officially celebrated here for the day of embroidery is really very eloquent. Russia is gradually losing its influence. Traditions are returning. So in the future there is something to work.
